Describe a favorite place in your house where you can relax : IELTS Cue Card

The IELTS speaking test is one of the toughest sections of the IELTS exam where your communication, opinion, and spontaneity are evaluated. The speaking test has 3 segments, where first you will have to introduce yourself and give your brief background. This is the time to ease yourself into the speaking test scenario. We advise you to include a paragraph of your introduction in your everyday IELTS preparation.

Then comes the most crucial segment of the IELTS speaking test which is the cue card round. Goes without saying that this is the trickiest segment, where you will have to give your monologue of 2 minutes on a random topic given to you by the examiner. To ensure you perform your best, it is important to practice monologues on various IELTS speaking topics. As you get habituated with how to frame your answers with numerous IELTS speaking questions, you will not only be confident but will also sharpen your reflex to articulate your thoughts.

The final segment will be the follow-up questions round, where the examiner will ask you questions based on the content of your answer. This part of the IELTS speaking test will evaluate your response time and presence of mind.

IELTS speaking questions sample 1 : Describe a favorite place in your house where you can relax.

Introduction:

The living room in my house is one of the comforting places in my opinion where relaxing and spending time is something that I look forward to. I sit on my L-shaped couch, throw on a comfortable duvet, and watch TV. This makes me relaxed and takes all my stress away.

When do you spend time in this place:

After a long day, especially after dinner is completed, I make myself comfortable there. This not only makes me feel relaxed but also makes my breathing calm, preparing me for a good night's sleep.

Why do you feel relaxed in this place:

The vibe of the place is soothing, to say the least. I like to keep the lighting low, with only one yellow night bulb glowing. I keep the balcony door open to allow the chilled breeze. As poetic does it sounds, the curtains blowing in the wind give me a sense of freedom. I have the fondest memories of my childhood, playing with my grandparents. That runs in my subconscious, and that is also a reason this place is so comforting for me.
